Social impact

Positive opportunities for the community

With these plans, our commitment extends beyond creating a high-quality headquarters. We believe in developing sites that bring tangible and lasting benefits to the communities they serve. Our proposals are designed with a strong focus on securing local jobs and delivering significant economic contributions to the Lichfield area.

Securing local employment

Keeping jobs and
opportunities local

One of the most significant benefits of our proposals is its direct positive impact on local employment. By enabling Palletways to consolidate and grow locally within a state-of-the-art space, the project will directly secure 250 existing jobs, preventing potential relocation and safeguarding livelihoods within the community.

There are also opportunities for increasing training and skills for local people. Across the logistics sector, 20% of people were unemployed before beginning their roles (Frontier Economics, 2022 cited in Prologis Corporate Labour Report 2023). Our plans will continue to create clear routes into new roles for local people, whether it’s their first job, their next career move or a chance to access further training.

Local jobs

Investing in the local economy

During construction significant investment will be felt within the local economy – delivering measurable benefits such as job creation and improving local infrastructure.

Prologis focuses on creating spaces that not only serve the needs of businesses but also enhance the quality of life for local residents and contribute to a more sustainable future.

We will ensure that social value and ethical considerations are a key part of the decision making involved in the commitment to invest into Fradley.

Since 2018 Prologis has measured the social value created through its construction projects, in order to better understand how we are delivering measurable benefits to communities by creating jobs, improving infrastructure and respecting nature. Through these efforts, our construction projects have generated a total construction social value of £142 million since 2018. Our proposals here at Fradley Park for Palletways will generate approximately £11.7 million of social value and support 491 jobs during the construction period.

Through operation, we anticipate there will be an annual £1.8m of impact felt within the local economy through 250 jobs being retained locally on site.

Employment wellbeing

A healthy and sustainable workplace

Employees on the site will have access to green spaces across the site. We know that this access helps to reduce anxiety and improve physical and mental health.

Our proposals include an area of natural landscaping which will feature native species planting and trees. Alongside a new foot and cycle path which will wind itself through the site, Prologis plan to install bike stores and electric vehicle charging to support sustainable travel options.

These efforts will help to reduce pollution from cars on the roads and help people to stay active.
